Isla Mujeres (The Island of Women) is a small, charming island located six miles northeast of Cancun. It is surrounded by crystal clear waters, white sand beaches and amazing coral reefs. The island has a flat terrain and is only five miles long and a half a mile wide with a downtown area of just four by six blocks. The island is much more laid back and quiet than nearby Cancun, but you can still find great restaurants, lively bars and colorful shops in the quaint downtown area. The island offers world class diving and snorkeling showcasing a variety of underwater plant and sea life. Many of the dive spots around the island have a depth of only 30-40 feet and an average water temperature of 78-82 degrees making it perfect for families. There are also plenty of activities to keep you busy on land. Make sure to rent a bike, moped or golf cart and explore the entire island. You can also visit the Turtle Farm, stroll through Hacienda Mundaca, or shop till you drop! If you are looking for a low key vacation in a tropical paradise, Isla Mujeres may be perfect for you.
